In today’s world of technology, literacy and numeracy skills are more important than ever. Knowledge is mediated through these skills and created via social interaction. This chapter describes how technology can help deaf and hard-of-hearing students develop literacy and numeracy skills. The chapter focuses on the role of information and communications technology support in emergent literacy and numeracy, learning basic and advanced literacy and numeracy skills, learning from multimedia texts, and learning from the Internet. The chapter ends with a perspective on future research.
