This chapter explores the American Bible Society (ABS) in Asia in the decades following World War II. It begins with the communist Revolution in China and the end of the ABS work in this country due to the anti-Christian reign of the community Mao government. It then moves on to General Douglas MacArthur’s occupation of Japan and the way the general supported the Bible Cause and the Japan Bible Society as a means of bringing Christian civilization to the occupied nation.
