This chapter focuses on Hezbollah’s politics during and in the wake of the Arab revolts, and explores the role that Al-Manar TV played in disseminating the party’s political stand, sentiments, and activities. It argues that Hezbollah has been consistent in its message of ‘resisting the oppressor’ from the early days of the group’s emergence up until its controversial involvement in the civil war in Syria. The chapter begins with an account of Hezbollah’s ideology and evolving identity. It then explores the party’s media strategy before turning to a discussion on Al-Manar’s coverage of the protests in Bahrain and Syria and how they fit within Hezbollah’s political agenda and regional standing.
