This chapter focuses on the assessment of axonal function in situ in peripheral nerves in humans. It describes current methods for clinical electrophysiological study of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The proper application of electrodiagnostic studies in the differential diagnosis of peripheral nerve disorders must take advantage of changing concepts in nerve stimulation techniques.
