Reforming Organizations
Reforming Organizations
Professor Rosabeth Kanter pointed out in her book Men and Women of the Corporation how the careers of talented women were greatly affected by organizations that adopt traditional and hierarchical setups. Such organizations utilize “homosexual reproduction,” where men replace other men and women are left out in terms of managerial arrangements. The need for such traditional organizations to be adaptable to change arises because of the emerge of alliances and the development of new services and markets. In analyzing the phases of awareness and action experienced by organizations—staying out of trouble, addressing the need to react, recognizing survival, arriving at a decision, and asserting how such a decision is part of the organizational culture—this chapter asserts the growing need for restructuring the organization and reassessing leadership qualifications.
