This chapter relates the author's experience in caring for two patients who had near-death experience. One was a fundamentalist African American preacher who had vowed never to enter a hospital and the other was a single mother called Mrs. M., who had successfully overcome alcoholism, breast cancer, and depression. The chapter highlights the author's end-of-life care dilemma in treating the Reverend and his working relationship with the single mother.
