This chapter reports the study's findings on the nature and prevalence of the crimes committed by the two target groups of the law — persons with one prior strike conviction and persons with two or more strike convictions. The first part of the chapter examines the share of the law's two targeted groups of felony crimes in California and the proportionate share of these two special-sanction groups of particular serious crimes. It then discusses the demographic characteristics of the two targeted groups compared to the demographics of persons arrested for felony crimes in California with no outstanding strikes against them.
