This chapter discusses green cleaning in schools. Clean schools minimize safety hazards and provide an optimal setting for learning. “Green cleaning” is an approach to cleaning designed to meet three different goals: effective cleaning, preventing discomfort and toxicity among people exposed to the cleaning process, and protecting the environment. The direct economic benefits of a green cleaning program include reductions in chemical use and labor costs. Indirect benefits include improved performance and decreased absenteeism.
