Public Health Surveillance
This chapter begins by reviewing the definition of public health surveillance and giving a brief history of recent developments in surveillance. It then considers how three categories of surveillance data are used. It describes selected sources and data collection activities for public health surveillance and reviews review the activities required to establish a surveillance system. Finally, the chapter briefly discusses data analysis and dissemination and provide references for further details.
