(p.146) Chapter Ten Kiss of Peace
Saving the Holy Sepulchre

Raymond Cohen

Oxford University Press

This chapter examines Pope Paul VI's visit to the Holy Land and meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Arthenagoras on January 6, 1964. The meeting was held in Mount Olives just a few meters from Calvary and the tomb of Jesus Christ, and it symbolized the convergence of two talks. These include the local negotiations between Latins and Greeks over the restoration of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the ecumenical exchange between the Holy See and Phanar.
