Introduction to International Quality Assurance for Psychology
Introduction to International Quality Assurance for Psychology
Psychology is an ethical scientific profession, mastered through a broadly defined educational and training process of expanding and ever-growing development, with the aim of performing an assured, qualified service in the interest of human welfare. The book is primarily concerned with the profession's accountability by way of its functions, activities, ethics, mobility, and issues of dominant Western psychology in adherence with various societal culture expectations and needs. Accountability has five domains: designation of appropriate programs of education and training, certifying program quality, certifying graduates for entry into the profession, credentialing practitioners on advanced knowledge and skills, and evaluating the degree to which certification procedures address practitioner adherence to professional ethics and standards. The book is divided into three discourses: designation and accreditation of educational programs, defining entry-level degrees for professional licensure, and certifying specialized/advanced skills; expounding actual practice in different regions and countries; and comparative examinations of mechanisms and their external influences from other system perspectives in producing further additional development.
