This chapter presents an overview of many of the themes that characterize the assumptions, beliefs, experiences, and perspectives that define emerging adult culture in the United States today. Having thus described significant elements of mainstream and countervailing emerging adult culture, the chapter then examines some of the more important possible implications of the prominent cultural themes and features that have been identified for explaining emerging adults' religious and spiritual lives in particular.
