Children of Jesus and Mary

Christine Johnson

This chapter compares the attitudes of order members with the attitudes of members of another new religion, the Family International, building on the work of William Bainbridge's The Endtime Family. Bainbridge compared the attitudes of Family members with data from the General Social Survey (GSS). The chapter takes this one step further by comparing the attitudes of Order of Christ Sophia (OCS) members with the attitudes of the wider population and with Bainbridge's Family profile. In most respects, the Family and the OCS are equally religious. The major difference is in how they choose to engage with the world and their ideas about how best to reach and transform this world for the better.
