This chapter focuses on culture and memory development, addressing three central questions: Where (i.e., on what kinds of tasks) should we look for cultural effects on memory? What is the empirical evidence for these effects? By what mechanisms are these effects transmitted? Insights from current research in cognitive and developmental psychology and suggestions for future directions are discussed.
