Sexuality: The Other Side
Sexuality: The Other Side
The hallmark of inclusiveness of a progressive and civilized society resides in dignified treatment of anatomically transgendered individuals and normative acceptance of sexual preferences among same sex partners. Removing disabilities experienced by transgenders in public spaces through employment by pro-active state intervention is the way forward but there have been no significant improvements in their emasculated status and stigmatic perceptions. India does not yet favour same sex marriages and judgment of the Delhi High Court decriminalizing sexual orientation and relations between consenting same sex partners has been the subject of challenge to the Supreme Court. Strong public opinion must be mobilized before gay marriages could be legitimized through law.
