This chapter discusses the concept of sexual hatred in the works of Browning. The discussions in this chapter include that of certain excerpts from the poem ‘The Flight of the Duchess’, which is narrated by an old huntsman. The poem is about the story of the unhappy marriage of a young and beautiful Duchess, who is believed to be a prototype of Pompilia, to the dry and self-obsessed Duke.
