While Marlborough's plan for forcing Louis XIV to provide peace terms to the Allies failed, the Cabinet colleagues of the Duke discouraged Marlborough's plans at pushing through with his resignation and they were already coming up with new plans for his next campaign. As his alliance with the Whigs became shaky, he was admitted to the Kit-Cat Club where schemes regarding the high church demagogue's prosecution were shared. Sarah was able to listen to how the prosecution was to take place otherwise the nation would probably fall into chaos and the Queen would lose her rule. At this point though, the Whigs played no small part in the Cabinet and in the Houses of Parliament. This chapter tells about how the Queen was able to gain possession of Sarah's gold key of office.
