A New Procedural Institution
This chapter examines the sources for intertium and the theories that explain those sources. It presents the state of literature by discussing event contributions. The main sources for intertium are chapters 90 to 92 of the lex Irnitana and two Pompeian tablets. This chapter implies that these sources are complementary because the tablets appear to show statutory provisions used in litigation. The two other sources are less useful. The italic fragment only preserves a portion of chapter 90 of the Flavian Law that is better preserved in the lex Irnitana; the fragment of Antinoopolis papyrus is incomplete and can be reconstructed only with a lot of guesswork.
