Natural Religion
This chapter focuses on Benthanm's book, Analysis. To avoid running the risk of prosecution for blasphemy the Analysis was given to the world under the pseudonym ‘Philip Beauchamp’. Why this particular name was chosen remains a mystery. The Analysis represents the systematic gathering together of all Bentham's previously stated grievances over the influence of the religious sanction in the temporal concerns of society.
Keywords: Philip Beauchamp, blasphemy, Analysis, religious sanction
