This chapter focuses on Bentham's book, Not Paul, but Jesus. The book expanded on the treatment of certain passages in Paul's Epistles, introduced additional topics, and relied on the interpretation of the original Greek terms in which the Bible was first written. Most notably, as Professor Steintrager has said, ‘the idea of distinguishing between Paul and Jesus, was Bentham's device for trying to appear as a sincere, reforming Christian.
