Working Organization, Political System, and Status Structure within the Concern
This chapter addresses the adjustment of the working organizations to conditions of change in the self-interest of members of concerns, whether they are pursued individually or in combination with others. Conceived as ‘pure’ working organizations, concerns might be considered capable of adjusting their system spontaneously to fit their external and technical circumstances. This is expected in the firms which entered the Scottish Council's electronic scheme. This presumption is based on the differences observed in the management systems of two firms in the preliminary study, the one manufacturing textiles in a very stable set of technical and commercial conditions, and the other committed to research and development in electronics.
