This chapter discusses the unity of Behaviourism and Interpretivism and how the two schools of thought complement each other. Behaviourists focus on the action of the actors and are not concerned with their thoughts and interpretations. Through this method Behaviourists try to achieve their goal of making laws that could explain and predict the actions of individuals in certain situations. The Interpretivist on the other hand, focuses on the thought of the actors and seeks to provide adequate interpretations that led them to choose such action. Although both schools of thought have their own weaknesses; the strength of one offsets the limit of the other and vice versa. For the field of social science to have more relevance it must learn to unite the strengths of these two schools of thought.
