This chapter discusses the four trends in coronary heart disease (CHD) epidemiology: (i) the decline in CHD rates in the rich countries of the world which has been a dominant feature of the epidemiological landscape; (ii) the increasing importance of cardiovascular disease, including CHD, in developing countries; (iii) intense research on ‘newer’ risk factors; and (iv) that the established risk factors are even more established.
