This chapter examines neural processing and brain activity associated with feeding in primates. It describes the activity in the gustatory pathways and the neuronal activity in the lateral hypothalamus during feeding. It discusses the convergence between taste and olfactory processing to represent flavour and investigates the functions of amygdala, the temporal cortex, the orbitofrontal cortex, and the striatum in feeding. The findings indicate that the lateral hypothalamus and adjoining substantia innominata are involved in the control of feeding.
