Introduction
Introduction
The Introduction presents to readers the collaborative process undertaken to produce the book, the structure of the book, and key themes that run across each chapter. The Introduction is careful to distinguish this book from broad-based “interfaith” endeavors. This is not a book with a political aim, rather it aims to engage in comparative theology, philosophy and law of each tradition using “natural law” as a frame of analysis. The Introduction prepares readers for the pattern of dialogue found in the book, in which three chapters provide arguments which are argued about in subsequent responses. There is no attempt in the book to integrate the views of the three main chapters into one seamless whole. Instead the integration of the different perspectives occurs, when it does, through the give-and-take that occurs in the development of the chapters and responses.
