A One Category Ontology
A One Category Ontology
This chapter defends a one category ontology: an ontology that denies that we need more than one fundamental category to support the ontological structure of the world. One category ontologies are deeply appealing: their ontological simplicity gives them an unmatched elegance and sparseness. In the service of a one category ontology, the chapter argues for mereological bundle theory, and explores new ways in which mereological bundle theory can address concerns about the identity of indiscernibles and indiscernibility issues in quantum mechanics.
Keywords: properties, abstracta, constituent ontology, relational ontology, mereological bundle theory, mereology, identity of indiscernibles
