Designing on-site activities
Designing on-site activities
On-site activities can enhance first-hand experiences with natural areas by orienting, informing, and stimulating visitors. The development of on-site activities considers the visitor experience, the facility design and resources of the site, and the education and outreach objectives of the organization, park or zoo. An initial planning process at a site paves the way for developing trails, guided walks, exhibits, demonstrations, nature study activities, and visitor centers. This chapter provides guidelines for implementing and evaluating these techniques to help achieve conservation and education goals.
