This introductory chapter discusses the use of consulting experience as data for analysis and the method of systematic reflection on experience. It then sketches the core lessons of the authors' consulting experiences: firstly, the value of a ‘full engagement’ approach to relational intervention; and secondly, the need for development of ‘post-industrial relations’.
