This chapter ascertains whether there are any correlations in the occurrence of the various morphosyntactic phenomena found in the cross-linguistic coding of subordination. The analysis presented follows the lines of previous investigations on the co-occurrence of various morphosyntactic phenomena, such as Comrie (1976b) and Croft (1991) on deverbalization phenomena, or Bybee (1985) on TAM distinctions.

Keywords:   morphosyntactic phenomena, cross-linguistic coding, subordination systems, TAM distinctions
