This chapter argues that it is possible for multiracial congregations to exist without significant cross-racial interaction among church members. It suggests that for a multiracial church to reap the full benefits of its diversity, the cross-racial relationships within the congregation must be nurtured and encouraged. Without intentionality in the organizational vision and leadership style of multiracial churches, multiracial congregations can reproduce racial isolation rather than bridging racial divides.
