By working outside the home, parents send messages to their children about how families are organized. At the same time, the out-of-household work is likely to expose children to a different pattern of caregivers. Especially in households with a working mother, these forces will tend to lead children to more belief in social equality and support for policies upholding the tenets of feminism. Personal experience produces more illustration of the value of parity in sex roles, easier access to abortion services, and welfare services. These predictions prove to be true even when accounting for the political ideology of the parents.
