Discovering Dump Dangers
Unearthing Hazards in Hydrogeology
This chapter gives a brief overview of logic, then explains why logic is the foundation of scientific analysis. Uncovering several logical fallacies in government hydrogeological studies, it illustrates how to evaluate scientific assumptions associated with a prominent model in hydrogeology, used to evaluate various waste dump sites. Models especially deserve logical scrutiny because they can be misused, given their typical employment in situations where data are not available.
