The Nizam lends his permanent camp in the jungle for Christmas, which is celebrated with a picnic by a lake and dinner in the evening with a menu that includes Christmas pudding. Villagers come in on Christmas Day with presents, including a baby crocodile for the children. The tiger shoot and bison hunt are described. Back in Hyderabad, the New Year’s Day Parade takes place on the maidan.
