Fundamentalism and Evangelicals

This chapter focuses on the phenomenological hermeneutics movement and its possibility as an alternative to the Fundamentalist movement in Evangelicalism. According to R. T. France not all Evangelists should be termed as Fundamentalist because there are those who give serious attention to modern hermeneutical questions. Phenomenological hermeneutics and its followers are aware of the different cultural influences and contexts that affect how individuals interpret the scriptures and texts of the Bible. It also gives support to the idea that even the Biblical authors themselves were somehow affected by the cultural influences of their time. Evangelists now acknowledge the fact that no person can be wholly objective and scientific.
