Computing with Cells

Differently from the rest of the models of membrane systems presented in this book, conformon P systems, are not based on a specific intra- or intercell process. They have been inspired by a theoretical model of the living cell based on the concept of conformon: sequence-specific mechanical strains embedded in the (macro)molecules present in cells. Following closely what happens in nature, in the model of membrane systems considered in the present chapter nothing is created or destroyed but everything is conserved.

Keywords:   conformon P systems, unbounded elements, infinite hierarchy, conformons, sequence-specific
