This chapter draws together conclusions from the narratives from the main chapters of the book and summarizes the advances in light and optics that occurred in the first half of the 19th century in France, thanks to the work of Arago and Biot. Optical instruments allowed Arago and Biot to navigate the boundaries between the visible and unseen.
