This chapter introduces the notion of the ‘personal work profile’ as the basis for a yet more comprehensive or holistic way of understanding the legal construction of personal work relations. It then suggests an analytical method for classifying personal work relations into three loose groupings: secure, autonomous, and precarious work. Building on the notion of the personal work profile, it elaborates on how the method of descriptive classification of personal work relations might contribute to the prescriptive regulation of those relations. Finally, the chapter introduces the idea of ‘personality in work’ as a combination of the values of dignity, capability, and stability in personal work relations.
