This chapter discusses working with children before a death. The discussion presented in this chapter draws on findings from recent research conducted by both adult and child co-researchers and a number of case examples are used to illustrate key principles. When tackling pre-bereavement, uncertainty is the one unique and major issue that should be tackled. Based on the studies presented in this chapter, effective intervention does not necessarily mean that long-term therapeutic work is required.
