This chapter discusses the structural analysis of genetic networks. It starts by introducing general concepts of molecular biology and by accounting for the different kinds of genetic networks that exist and the methods used to construct them from experimental data. The chapter then presents the structural analysis of gene coexpression networks based on global and local topological properties, including metric properties, clustering, degree distributions, and network communities; the analysis of the topological properties of gene regulatory networks; the analysis of in- and out-degree distributions, heterogeneity, subgraphs and motifs, centrality and the identification of global regulators, as well as the role of paths of different lengths in transcriptional cascades; and the analysis of other gene networks, such as a disease gene network and a drug target-gene network.
