This chapter discusses the concepts of network expansibility and isoperimetric analysis of networks. It covers the relation between good expansion properties and the network spectra; the different classes of networks that exist according to their global organisation of nodes and links; the spectral scaling method that determines whether a network displays good expansion or not; and four universal structural classes of networks characterised based on the scaling between the eigenvector and subgraph centrality. Several examples from the real-world of these classes are provided.
