Abstract

This book argues for an anti-realist view of fictional objects. More precisely it develops and defends a pretense-theoretic account of our talk and thought that purports to be about such things. On this approach there are no such things as fictional objects and our talk and thought that purports to be about them take place within the scope of a pretense.
