This book is about the various important connections that exist between emotion and value. This book is about the various important connections that exist between emotion and value. The introduction provides an overview of the field in general and draws attention to important themes that run throughout all the contributions, including: the evaluative nature of emotional experience; its role in constituting and disclosing various values concerning the world and the self; its epistemic credentials in grounding evaluative thought and knowledge; its role in practical rationality. The book is divided into three parts. Part I collects together several chapters connected broadly by their concern with the general nature of the connection between emotion and value. Part II includes chapters that focus primarily on the epistemic status of emotions in justifying evaluative knowledge. The chapters comprising Part III all focus on a range of different issues concerning the role of emotions in self-knowledge and well-being.
