Leon F. Litwack

In this chapter, Leon Litwack, former president of the Organization of American Historians, writes with enthusiasm of his annual meeting in 1987. A unique event, it began with an opening session that featured Pete Seeger and emphasized the importance of music in understanding the diversity of expression in America and ended, Litwack writes, with “hundreds of historians...rockin' and rollin' to the finest R&B and Rock n' Roll—on tape”.
