The conclusion summarizes the argument of the book and draws some implications for future research. Contrary to much previous research, Paul cannot be rightly understood as a non-messianic or anti-messianic thinker. The particular contours of Paul’s messianic christology, however, remain to be described in greater detail. Moreover, it is clear that Paul illustrates a range of features that are otherwise attested only in a fragmentary way in other Jewish messiah texts from the same period. A thorough description of early Jewish messianism, incorporating the Pauline evidence, remains to be done. If, as most scholars now concede, Paul is a source for early Judaism, then he is also a source for early Jewish reflection on the messiah, about whom he clearly had much to say.
