This chapter gives a preliminary discussion of Qasr Ibrim’s other Old Nubian documentary archives. It examines a group of documents connected to a Nubian eparch named Israel, with particular attention to what those documents tell us about Nubian dispute resolution. It also examines a group of documents connected to Dauti, whose position as thel() may have been related to tax collection. It also examines some of Qasr Ibrim’s religious and magical texts. The latter are particularly interesting for their attention to protection for women, especially during pregnancy. The magical texts fit patterns we see in Egypt, Ethiopia, and elsewhere in the world of eastern Mediterranean Christianity.

Keywords:   Israel the eparch, Dauti, Nubian magic, religion
