Drawing on organizational, group-, and individual-level data presented in the prior chapters, Chapter Six outlines a typology that emerges from the focal study about the multiple dimensions of mixed race schooling to which educators must be attuned to optimize the incorporation of their students across all groups and to avoid the glaring racial, ethnic and class patterns that currently loom large within their educational practices and outcomes. This chapter provides a multidimensional perspective, focusing on the type, practice, and moral nature of both the “resource” and “socio-cultural” contexts of schools. Findings suggest that specific combinations of conditions pertaining to these three dimensions of school contexts may be effective in the educational incorporation of youths of various social backgrounds.
