This chapter examines the projections of Abraham Lincoln in the U.S. It discusses the importance American propaganda in the “Global Lincoln” and the contribution of Lincoln propaganda to the politicization of his image through an association with American power. It also describes how American officials contributed in making Lincoln a contested symbol and language of international relations or a lingua franca of public diplomacy.
