Awareness and Protection of Wetland Cultural Heritage

(p.337) 9 Awareness and Protection of Wetland Cultural Heritage
Wetland Archaeology and Beyond

Francesco Menotti

Oxford University Press

This chapter first explores the process of bridging the gap that has emerged between academia and society, from the creation of more popular archaeology magazines and books, to involving people directly with workshops, and/or ‘hands-on’ archaeology sessions. It then deals with wetland management policies and how we preserve our cultural heritage. Finally, it considers the relationship between archaeologists and the local communities where archaeological projects take place, known as ‘community archaeology’.
