Things I Learned at the Banquet

Things I Learned at the Banquet

(p.210) 34 Things I Learned at the Banquet
Among the Creationists

Jason Rosenhouse

Oxford University Press

In this chapter, the author talks about the things he learned at the banquet dinner held after the conclusion of the Sixth International Conference on Creationism, held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in August 2008. Shortly before the banquet began, he became involved in one of those conversations with several creationists, with topics ranging from evolution and creationism to religion, morality, and even abortion. The banquet speaker was Andrew Snelling, a geologist whose two-volume work Earth's Catastrophic Past is the most serious attempt at legitimizing young-Earth creationism. Snelling discussed “The Creation Model: Its Past, Present and Necessary Future” and focused on the success of The Genesis Flood, by John Whitcomb Jr. and Henry Morris.
