This chapter presents oral history interviews with two American nuns who witnessed the split that occurred among the Benedictine Sisters at St. Walburga's Monastery in Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1971: Sister Germaine Fritz, who had been prioress at St. Walburga's for eight years; and Sister Kathleen McNany, who now lives in Emmanuel Monastery, the Benedictine community founded by the twenty-three Sisters who left St. Walburga's in 1971.
